Privacy Policy

The short version

Salty Shots Hawaii is a small, community-run site. We collect only what we need to deliver your photos and videos, process tips, and occasionally let you know when new sessions go up. We don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and we don't share your info with anyone beyond the services listed below.

What we collect

• Email address — when you download a photo or clip, subscribe to updates, tip the filmmaker, or fill out the private sessions form.
• Name and message — only if you provide them (e.g., the private sessions inquiry form, tip messages).
• Payment details — tips are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We store only the tip amount, an anonymized Stripe payment ID, and optional message.
• Anonymous usage logs — we log which session/photo was downloaded and a one-way-hashed version of your IP address (not your raw IP). This helps us understand which sessions are popular and catch abuse.

What we don't collect

• Your full IP address, geolocation, or device fingerprint.
• Browsing history on other sites.
• Social-media accounts or friend lists.

How we use your info

• Deliver the photos and clips you requested.
• Send occasional emails about new sessions at spots you've downloaded from (only if you opt in). You can unsubscribe from any email we send.
• Process tips and send you a thank-you receipt.
• Respond to private-session inquiries you send us.

Who has your info

We rely on a short list of trusted vendors to run the site:

• Supabase — database
• Cloudflare R2 — photo/video storage
• Stripe — tip and payment processing
• Resend — transactional email
• Vercel — site hosting

Each vendor only gets the information they need to do their job. None of them receive a full profile of you.

Photos of you

Salty Shots is a community photography project. If you surf a spot where we have a camera set up, you may end up in public footage. All footage on the site is of people surfing in public waters. If you see yourself and would prefer a shot taken down, email us at aloha@saltyshotshi.com and we'll remove it — no questions asked.

Your rights

You can ask us to delete your email and any data associated with it at any time. Email aloha@saltyshotshi.com and we'll take care of it within a few days.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above. Substantive changes will be called out in our emails.
